OLD WORLD WINES: Spain, Italy, France
"Heavens to Murgatroyd!", what an extensive line-up of wines tonight! Old world wines are from countries or regions where winemaking (with Vitis vinifera grapes) first originated.
Old world wine countries include France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Austria, Hungary, and Germany. Also, based on the definition, countries like Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, and Moldova are also able to be considered old world wine regions too.
Just one of these regions would have been enough to cover in an evening, but oh no, we've chosen THREE of the most important wine regions in the Old World and are running with it.
It's been a while since "some of you" have been in on a Friday night, and we miss you! I won't mention names here, but YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
We've blown it wide open tonight with a vast array of wines both familiar and possible unfamiliar to you, we want to hear what you think about them. So come on in, taste some wine and let's start a conversation.
"Exit, stage left!"
